DJ online
I’ve always been a fan of the internet, after all I wouldn’t be spending the time working on DJ Music if this wasn’t the case, But lets have a look at how this has affected the DJ culture and DJing in General. You’ll probably be surprised to find out that DJing is now more than a reality on the web, with progressions such as iTunes, DJ software and hardware like the Pacemaker and Pocket computer leading the way. Interestingly with people getting broadband and interent speeds becoming faster it has now become possible to DJ Music directly on the web, literally this means that you no longer even need software, just a login and web browser with internet and you can DJ away.
Two of the key examples of this are: Splice, and Music shake, both essentially work on the same principle, you get clips of tracks and put them together in squence, add effects and voila DJing on the internet, all you need to do is create an account with the site, and you can start to edit tracks and make your own remixes, you can then save these tracks and publish them to the DJ community on each site. The Potential of this kind of DJ innovation is that programs such as the beatport mixer, tracktor and ableton will become readily available to use online straight through your browser potentially for free. This would mean it would be cheaper and DJ equipment could be made smaller.
